What is the process of patient evaluation when you come to the ER with a stroke?
Q. Say someone comes to the ER via ambulance having an abrupt onset of left side paralysis and confused, slurred, and uncoordinated speech. What would the evaluation process of the patient be from the arrival to surgery? What would the surgery be called for a stroke located in the right side of the brain? Please be specific. :) I'm writing a scene for a book and I want to have it correct!

A. The nature of the emergency initial assessment of a patient with a stroke or suspected stroke is determined by his/her condition. Where there is impairment of the conscious level the immediate assessment and management is that of any patient in a coma with the focus naturally being on securing the airway and performing resus.
