News is the communication of information on current events which is presented by print, broadcast, Internet, or word of mouth to a third party or mass audience. History of news reportingIn its infancy, news gathering was primitive by today's standards. Printed news had to be phoned in to a newsroom or brought there by a reporter, where it was typed and either transmitted over wire services or edited and manually set in type along with other news stories for a specific edition. Today, the term "breaking news" has become trite as broadcast and cable news services use live satellite technology to bring current events into consumers' homes live as they happen. Events that used to take hours or days to become common knowledge in towns or in nations are fed instantaneously to consumers via radio, television, mobile phone, and the Internet. GNU Free Documentation License How do I contact national TV news channels when I have really important news? Q. A while back I came across what I considered extremely important news and wanted to let national TV news channels know, most specifically thinking of CNN or even MSNBC, but could not find anywhere I could "click" for lets say "news tips", "contact us", "urgent news", or similar. It may sound silly but there are some things sometimes people feel better telling it to news mediums than police or other authorities. Why? Well because news people are always willing to hear and listen to what you can explain to them in an intelligent way. Most of the time authorities tend to make their own judgement without you finishing your story. Or worse yet cut you off telling you "let proper authorities handle it". I have no idea how any news channel… [cont.] Asked by 1-2informationalways - Mon Aug 20 15:42:57 2007 - - 6 Answers - 2 Comments A. Answered by Barkley Hound - Mon Aug 20 15:49:42 2007 What positive news about the Clinton campaign is the media ignoring? Q. I've seen many that assert that the media is biased against Sen. Clinton because now there is only positive news about the Obama campaign and negative news about the Clinton campaign. Please tell me some positive news about the Clinton campaign that is going unreported. Asked by That Marvelous Ape - Fri Mar 28 13:05:23 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. The media isn't 'ignoring' any positive news about the Clinton campaign - Hillary is well ahead and going to win Pennsylvania; And bully for her - Give her credit for winning the big states. But the media is also trying to do their job and tell it like it is - That even if hillary wins all the rest of the states by wide margins (And that's highly unlikely); Her chances of overtaking Obama's lead now are very slim. They are not trying to force her out; They are just trying to remind us that this thing is just about a foregone conclusion already. The problem is they get shouted down by the Hillary fans (because a prolonged campaign is crucial to their very thin hopes) and the Republicans (because a prolonged nomination battle can only help… [cont.] Answered by karaoke jedi grand master - Fri Mar 28 13:13:43 2008 Why won't news networks air complete political speech rallies from start to finish?
Q. Often the networks will play small segments from a speech, examples being Obama in Elko Nevada and McCains Michigan town-hall meeting today. I say air these speeches live without commercials all day and cut back on the commentary and political shows. Especial for Headline news. Hey i live in Elko! Check the Web site to see what the schedule is. As for the other channels, they have bills to pay. They know showing a 20-minute speech is going to turn some viewers off, so they show highlights. Plus, stump speeches often are the same from day to day -- kind of like hearing the same concert over and over again.
