A. well that depends how many are you eating now? i would assume something around the 2800, if you want to lose weight, you should cut down however many calories you are eating now by 500 calories. and then also be burning some extra calories with excerisize etc. good luck hun!

Do the calories in alcohol work the same way as regular calories?
Q. For example, say Bacardi 151. The stomach pretty much absorbs all the alcohol in a drink which means that it doesn't get digested as thoroughly as regular foods. My understanding of a calories the amount of energy that is contained in it and is measured by the amount of energy given off while burning it. So, does the body "burn" alcohol calories the same as regular bread calories.

How many calories do I need every day excluding the amount of calories I burn in exercise?
Q. I searched on Google, but all the calorie calculators I found asked about how much exercise I get. I am 5'3", I weigh 95 pounds, and I am 13 years old. I know how many calories I burn per day, so that is why I want to know how many calories I actually NEED to have to maintain my weight. In the calories that I burn every day, I am including calories that I burn when I sit, stand, sleep, etc.

A. absolutely so. I was on a high physical workout and 1200 calorie a day and i am a guy almost 6 foot tall 155 pounds. I wanted to lose a little fat all over the body. I did this for more than a month but hadnt seen any results. I gave up after i landed an injury and then for almost 2 weeks i had all the junk in the world, and didnt even bother about my diet. I didnt put on much weight either. Now i eat a healthy balanced diet, without counting calories, and enjoy a light workout... and see slow and steady results... so yea eat more and stay active.. thats my advice to anyone who wants to lose weight and get fit. and good luck!

Q. I am not breastfeeding anymore and I want to lose the last 7 pounds. My trainer says that I should be working out 6 days a week and eating 1300 calories a day. I am 5 foot 9 and 135 pounds. I was 125 pre-prego. I have a small frame. So, I am wondering if that sounds about right. A. For your height, weight, and personal conditions, i'd say that 1300 is too little. Please, do not eat any less than that. If you are hungry, EAT. otherwise your body will think you are starving it and store fats...which will make you appear to GAIN weight. If you want to shave off pounds and make it LAST, eat 1500 to 1700 a day, excersize about 5 or 6 days a week for about a halfhour to an hour, and eat varieties of food with different nutrients. The truth is, it isnt how many calories you eat, but what KIND of calories you're consuming. A. You should burn at least 1200 to 1400 calories and it is best to do that through six small meals. Too little calories makes your body think it is starving and it will hold on to all of the fat plus more. Try to exercise at least 5 to 6 days per week and have one or two days off per week. A. Ok, first you need to calculate your BMR. Google "BMR calculator" and input your age and weight as it asks. Then go to this website and click on "calories burned calculator" Then add the two totals and you'll know :) the typical person burns between 1400 and 1800 calories a day just to support basic body functions. When you add exercise to that, it can go as high as 3000 depending on how active you are. Mine for example is 2300 a day because I go to the gym every day. But it varies according to age, weight and gender. Good luck

Q. I have this simply-to-go brand 'mixed berry parfait' from my cafeteria for lunch sometimes. Does anyone know how many calories does it contain, because sometimes it feels a little heavy. A. According to the information I found, 14 ounces of strawberry and blueberry with granola parfait would have about 380 calories. However I doubt that the container would contain 14 ounces as I don't think parfait containers come larger than 12 ounces. In that case a 12 ounce container would contain about 326 calories. Sorry to disappoint you but the impression that it is a little heavy is probably correct. The parfait you are having probably contains more calories than a regular McDonalds burger which contains about 250 to 280 calories.

A. Without knowing what brand you have its hard to say, but check the instruction manual and there should be something in there that tells you. It should be able to calculate the calories that you are burning in general, so if you double check you should find the settings.
