How can I prevent getting sunburn on my scalp?
Q. I have thin hair at the top of my head. (Not balding, but you can kind of see my scalp.) I have looked for a sunscreen product for the scalp, but it doesn't seem to exist. Aside from staying out of the sun or wearing a hat (obvious answers) what else can I do? I love to swim and can't wear a hat in the pool. I have tried applying regular sunscreen to my scalp with a Q-tip, but then my hair looks all greasy and it's just annoying. Help.

What will help a scalp that tends to flake and only itch when wet?
Q. My scalp is really flakey and itches when i sweat, i get red splotches sometimes too. I'm not sure what to do. The T-Gel worked for a couple of weeks, but then it stopped. A. Shampoo is really funny. It seems to have good effects for a few weeks then stops working. I like to switch brands every few weeks or rotate shampoos each wash. Don't know about Olive oil, it may make you too greasy.

What color would the scalp be after having a biopsy?
Q. My aunt had a spot on her scalp biopsied twice it wasn't cancer, just severely irritated. It's hard to get it to heal cause she picks at it she has dementia. The skin is pink where it is healing so will it stay pink or turn back to scalp color? The dermatologist said it may be discolored from the rest of the scalp, but it seems to not change from pink even with a little red in it, but it's more pink.

How do you cure scalp itches and scalp pimples?
Q. I tend to feel very itchy on my scalp and can't help but scratch it all the time - when I'm at work, when I'm sitting on my bed - my fingers keep reaching in there and picking at it. A. Use a relaxer that contains "no-lye". Then, try not to scratch or even comb your hair the day before you relax...also, greasing your scalp helps, and spraying oil sheen on your scalp once it starts burning will serve to cool it down...

A. If your scalp burns to the point that it leaves scabs or causes wounds, don't chance using the color. A serious reaction to chemicals is just not worth it. Contact a stylist if this is the case, and see if he/she would be willing to foil the same color of highlights into your hair, to prevent any color from touching your scalp while still maintaining the color you like. If your scalp burning is not severe, and leaves no marks or extreme soreness, then you are probably just a little sensitive to haircolor. In this case, some sort of desensitizer would be helpful. A. No but it makes your hair look a bit oily. usually what I do is shampoo my scalp, rinse, then condition my ends (what would be a ponytail length) and when I'm rinsing that I pile my hair in top of my head so my scalp doesn't flack or itch. It moisturizes just enough.

A. they have certain bleaches for sensitive scalps check sallys beauty supply theres really no way to avoid getting it on your scalp if you want a decent bleach job. you could put it on all of your hair except the first 3 quarters ofan inch of growth out of your scalp and then put it on that part last because that comes up quicker than the rest of your hair being that it is warmer next to your scalp,but this is hard to do on yourself. good luck (lisa the stylist)

A. Don't buy shampoo that has a conditioner mixed in it.This will only make your hair have more oil.When you wash your hair, wash it three times per wash. A. i have the same problem. n this is what i follow... make a low pony tail-put a clip instead of rubber band. U can even tie ur hair with scarf. or put it in a braid. or loose it open-curl or wave or straight. apply catcher on half hair n let the other stay open :-) or use tick tack pins to keep them at place thats the only way out. High ponies hurt the hair n a rubber band isnt enought to pick the weight.
