How many slices can you get from a watermelon if it was sliced correctly? What do you call a slice?
Q. How I slice mine: I slice sections off at a time and then cut the big slice into four to six pieces. Easier to eat without it getting all over you face lol! I was just wondering. I would say its 3 lbs watermelon but its a guess. (seedless) It seems the seeded watermelon are bigger? Do you agree?

A. I cut it in 1/2 lengthwise I cut off each slice so it has a portion of the "heart" (core) depending on the length- I can get about 20 slices

How many slices are there in a loaf of bread? Why do people skip over the first slice of bread?
Q. I always buy loaves of bread regular size, and never knew exactly how many slices are there, it not a dozen, like eggs. Also, I too skip over the first slice, why?
Asked by V@CI@ - Tue Aug 28 18:27:23 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I counted one time, a brand new unopened loaf of Safeway white bread. Not counting crusts, it came to 21. I thought that was odd. And I always skip the first slice because I'm lousy at sealing the bag again. Kind of like being in a store and I never pick the first magazine in the rack. I don't know why.

Can you slice a beef brisket prior to cooking and then fry it in a skillet?
Q. Can you slice up a beef brisket raw (prior to cooking) and then cook it in a skillet on the stove top to make like sandwiches? I already sliced up the brisket and have it marinating in a zip lock bag...how do you suggest would be the best way to cook it?
Asked by KLO3 - Thu May 28 13:31:09 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If it were me I would cook it in a pressure cooker for about 15 minutes but since most people don't use pressure cookers, I'd say you could saute a little onion and garlic, add some beef broth or bouillon and water or wine along with your sliced brisket and simmer covered for at least an hour until meat is tender. If you want your gravy a little thicker you could flour your meat and sear it before you add the broth and onions. Low and slow.

Whats the best way to slice a gumdrop cake?
Q. The one we just made is cooked just right, no gooey center, and we've let it sit for a few hours but when we go to slice it the gumdrops dont want to cut and tear out of the cake. We cut the gumdops into smaller peices before baking. Any tips on how to cut this cake without making a mess of it?
Asked by uncannyvalley - Sun Dec 17 15:38:34 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A serrated knife is probably your best bet. And another trick is to chill the cake either in the refridgerator or in the freezer. When the cake is really hard it is easier to cut through with the gum drops in it. And if it is partly frozen it makes traveling with it easier to, it stays fresher, because of how cold it is. Good luck and happy eating.

How many calories does a slice of pepperoni deep dish pizza have?
Q. I'm currently losing weight but tomorrow I have a birthday to go to unfortunately at a pizza place in which all there is is deep dish pizza. Anyone know how many calories one slice of pepperoni deep dish pizza has?
Asked by Perfect Gal<3 - Fri Jul 2 22:06:02 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. i doubt all they have is pizza. try looking at the menu online and seeing what they have that's a more healthy option. but there's probably about 400 or 500 calories in a slice. the pepperoni accounts for ALOT more fat and calories than you'd think and same with the extra cheese that a deep dish style has

How much should I charge per slice of pizza for a church fundraiser?
Q. Approximate price for pizzas with coupon: Large: $10 Average number of slices: 12 Charging 1.50 per slice will provide $18 for every $10 spent, but does not take into account taxes and tip. Does $2 per slice sound like too much?
Asked by sunupmtn - Thu Sep 6 01:46:05 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. $2 per slice is pretty typical as long as the pieces are not too small. We have ours cut to 10 slices. Be sure to tell whoever is delivering your pizzas that each pizza must have 10 equally sized pieces. They should be used to doing this since many organizations use pizza for fundraising. Add to your profits by having a specialty pizza contest. Contestants provide a specialty pizza recipe for your fundraiser. Attendees vote on the best pizza idea by dropping money into a jar beside each pizza recipe. The pizza with the most money in the jar wins. The winner gets their pizza recipe printed in the newletter. Many people are passionate about their pizza (sort of like people at a chili cookoff) so you should have plenty of recipe… [cont.]

Why does eating a slice of cheese make me sweat?
Q. Every time I cut a slice of cheese off a block of it, after about the 3rd or 4th slice I start to get a little sweat or cooler under my eyes. It feels like I'm sweating and I am a little... What is the cause?

A. I would consult a doctor. To me it sounds like some sort of allergic reaction, or possibly lactose intolerance. Or maybe the cheese is so good that you work your self into a frantic sweat.

How do I grow mold on an orange slice?
Q. I have to grow mold on an orange slice for my science experiment and I have no idea how. I've already tried google, absolutely nothing. Wow, got more replies than expected! Thanks everyone! I can't decide which answer is best, so I'm put a thumbs up for everyone.

A. Put the orange slice in a Ziploc bag with some air in it and put it in a dark area (such as under a bed, in a closet, or in a cabinet). The moisture that will be held in the Ziploc and darkness that will make it mold the quickest.

How to slice out the last word in a string in Python?
Q. I want to slice out the last word from a string, say "this is a string". Then the word will be "string". I figured the easiest way to do it is to locate the last space in the string, and then the last word is what's left behind that. So then I need to know how to locate the LAST space in the string. Any help?

How long does it take to burn off a slice of cherry pie while cycling?
Q. How long would it take to burn off a slice of cherry pie while cylcing at a moderate pace? Also, if a scoop of ice-cream were added, how long would it take to burn that off also?
Asked by TheSpringOnion - Tue Aug 18 02:24:23 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. well, i looked up the calories of a piece of cherry pie, and it's around 450-500. maybe more, depends on the recipe and size of the slice. a scoop of ice cream would probably add another 150. that totals to around 650, 700 if we're allowing extra! you can burn 560 calories per hour cycling at 12-13.9 mph (moderate effort). so 1.25 hours or so would be just enough :) good luck! you're dedicated if you burn it all off! :)

What is the best driver to buy for a slice?
Q. I am looking to buy a new golf driver and i have a bad slice. I dont want to spend alot but i will spend for the right club.
Asked by fox man - Thu Apr 8 14:49:07 2010 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I know you won't like this answer, but honestly, spend the money on a couple lessons, fix the slice. A slice is not an equipment issue, it's a operator issue. You get an offset club now to aid your ball in going straight, then you learn how to hit it properly and have a club that doesn't work anymore, so you continue going with the bad habits and never improve. Fix it, then spend the money on a good fitted driver.

What is a potato slice enzyme project suppose to look like?
Q. You know with the potato slice and hydrogen peroxide. I have to do that project and i did but im not quite sure whats suppose to happen. Has anyone done it?
Asked by RussianGoddess - Thu Oct 8 19:31:24 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You should see carbon dioxide being released. Enzymes break up the hydrogen peroxide, releasing carbon dioxide. If there's no release of CO2, you didn't do something right.

How can i stop the slice on my drives at the course?
Q. I set up perfectly straight down the fairway, I take my swing then after the ball goes about 75 aways it just starts to slice, and it always ends up in the rough. This slice only happens when i use my driver or fairway woods but never with my irons and wedges. I've tried different swings but nothing works. My friend told me to set up and aim for the left side of the fairway. I would love to finally beat him in a round of golf but he drives the ball straight and my ball ends up in the rough or slices onto the edge of the fairway. I would also apperiate anyones recommendations for a new driver because i want a new one badly.
Asked by Matt Cullen - Sat Sep 16 23:31:50 2006 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments

A. It seems like the main problem you're slicing is that at some point during your swing, you're opening the club face. The driver and fairway woods are longer clubs so you might not be comfortable with that. I suggest getting an r7 driver. It might seem like a gimmick club, but if your iron swing is sound, then the r7 will help you out. I suggest to focus on rotating your body and hips towards your target with your belt buckle finishing at that target. Also, try and rotating your right arm to close the clubface after impact.
